Friday Fun!

With the weather here being so cold and damp (no snow yet!!) that makes it a great day to browse through the new issue of Coastal Living...I plan to devour it, page by page, over the weekend! I thought I'd share a few photos with you that I am currently swooning over...

living room
I love these bright cheerful colors here...even the floral fabric too.  I adore how there are cottage effects with the beams, shades, and sisal rug (reminiscent of the SAND!) and how well these bright inspiring colors work with all of that.  Check out the green tray on the table...and the green turtle...to tie in the green ottomans a bit more!  Ah, "simply irresistible" and very well done!

kitchen
I believe I'll have to re-think my growing tired of a white kitchen...with pops of color in the striped rug, cushions...along with a few accessories and a lightly painted ceiling...I think I'll change my vote.  How about these great pendants over the island...ooh-la-la!  I am loving this cottage kitchen!

dining room
Is this dining room fabulous or what?  I love the chandelier, the rug, and these gorgeous chairs with the pattern on the back!  It's toned down in this room, but still packs a punch along with the rest of the house!

girls room
I usually tend to notice the DETAILS at once...that's just me!  How many of you would dare to put this rug (with pink) in this room (with all the red)?  Also, notice the band of solid turquoise along the bottom of the drapery panels and at the bottom of the window shade.  The headboard sports a trim as well and has covered buttons...well thought out indeed!  It's "details" like this that make the difference and is usually a part of our custom interior design service too.

bathroom
I love this fresh green with all the white...now "this" pops!  Don't be afraid to change any style mirror you may have with fresh paint for a brand new look in your room.  Give it a try!

guest room
Now this room is just plain "sassy" in my eyes...I LOVE it!  Of course these walls remind me alot of what we now have in our own home...but popped with all this navy...yes, please!  Again, would you EVER think of putting "this" rug in here?  Be honest now.  But I like it.  Also, more details...a ruffled bedskirt and draperies with contrasting coral (or so it looks) band at top.  And one last thing...since I'm on a roll...I adore this headboard...I'll take one for my guest bedroom!

So there you have it, a peek into the new issue of Coastal Living.  If you don't have your copy yet you may just want to pick one up for the weekend!  A quiet corner, cozy chair with afghan, hot cup of tea...and this new issue...all the makings of some great weekend R&R.  What are YOUR plans?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Weekend!

What's on Your Shelves?

One of the biggest challenges our clients seem to have is what to put on the shelves in their rooms.  They have usually placed many things, but just never seem to be happy with it.  Hum, does this sound like we may just need some ideas?  We've rounded up a few.

I love how these white shelves "pop" against the blue wall...love it! But, look how simple items are used here and the red is displayed as well in some accessories as the accent color.  Most of the items used here are ones that you may already have...or simple enough to find.

Or, for a more uniform collected look, how about displaying some pottery pieces for another great, and simple, look.

This look would be pretty simple to achieve...shells, lots of shells!  Then add some pottery along the bottom shelf.  It's different, but I like it...how about you?

Many times those niches in the wall can be hard to "dress"...so you can add some stacks of books, with some favorite photos and a few select fun accessories that display your personality...whatever it may be.

Here is another example of some great ways to dress up those shelves...and yes, I LOVE this room...it's PINK!!!

Another wall niche...just showcasing dishes.  No extra color popped and it's such a nice look too.  I do love how the pictures on either side add in the other colors used in the room.  That sort of pulls that wall into the room.

Shallow shelving along a wall is the perfect spot for some family photos...what a nice look!

If you are one of those that likes a symmetrical look...then this one is a great option.  Very simple but a really nice calming look.

Here is another one with a soft blue back showcasing lots of collected pottery in multiple colors.  Just stay within your color scheme to enhance the look.

So I hope these help a bit with some ideas of how YOU can dress your shelves.  This is a great thing to do when you start spring cleaning your rooms...try a new "look" on those shelves.  I bet you will be amazed at the difference it makes!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Brightness in your Day!

Just popping in to say Happy Tuesday and to share a little brightness into your day!

I fell in love with this room and it's traditional furnishings and lighting...yet it's all done in bright neon colors!  No patterned fabrics, just several solids to get this look.  How FAB is this?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Beloved Pet

I haven't been up to much posting during the past week because one of my "babies" (German Shepherd of 13 years) had to be put to sleep last Friday.  I spent most of my days and nights during that week right with him tending to his every need and just loving on him.  It was such a hard decision to make and took me a couple of days, but I knew he was ready to go...and I loved him enough to let him go!  Painful for me...but heavenly for HIM.  He was all that mattered.

He showed up at our backdoor one evening 13 years ago.  We tried to find his home but couldn't. The vet told us he was around 6 weeks old...so, we named him "Lucky" (told him he was lucky to have us as his family - 'cause I LOVE animals!).  He knew just how lucky he was...that is for sure!

Here is a picture of my "baby"...

The last thing I told him was that I'd love him "forever and a day".  He was just the best, most gentle and loving dog ever.  Truly a companion!  I will miss you "Lucky"...each and every day.

So, dear readers, I will be back...but now I need to catch up on everything...and spend a little more time pondering my wonderful memories with him!  Sound crazy?  Oh well, that is just who I am and it will help me to heal!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
