Just Plain Fun Stuff

Today's topic is "Just Plain Fun Stuff"...simply because we are just going to show you an array of things relating to your home.  Hope you don't mind...Let's start with just an inspiring photo of a lovely room...

draperyswag
You that know me well, know that custom window treatments is my "fave" of all...I LOVE creating and designing all the details that go into beautiful window treatments! Here is a photo from my archives that I had saved some time ago...the windows here are draped with lovely coordinating fabrics and some fringe...to boot!  I love layering treatments and working in another fabric at the bottom of the drapery panels.  This is "Simply Irresistible", I do think!  Another detail here is the color of the walls vs. the color of the ceiling...take a look.  The darker ceiling just pulls the room together and makes this stunning ceiling, with all the architectural details, feel like an actual part of the room. Then, of course, there is the gorgeous mirror, the upholstery on the chairs, the table arrangement....ect...all of which totally inspire me.  How about YOU?

Now for a couple window designs we are working on...
This is actually a more traditional style, but we are using it in a more contemporary setting and making it with a modern fabric.  I think it will be great with what furnishings the client wants to keep and use in her room (dining room, by the way).  After all, making the customers happy is what it's all about!!

Another design for same client, but think she likes one above best!

This one is a design for a bay window area in the kitchen.  I love the simplicity of this style in the bay.

This is actually a Dash & Albert sample rug that we selected as an option for another dining room...however, we ended up making the room a little more formal so we didn't use this...but I LOVE the rug and the colors. Dash & Albert have some really great selections and many color ways.

A painting in another client's home that has incredible colors.  I just love this abstract...do you?  What fun it will be to build the entire room design around this!

For some reason I could not rotate this one...hum...good thing design is my specialty and NOT computers!! Ha!  This is another fun painting I wanted to share...look at all these bright, fun colors.

This is a gorgeous brown and blue Nourison rug sample we selected for a powder room (this is NOT the actual rug, just a sample piece)...walls are painted in this...

A truly stunning kitchen...actually the client knew what she wanted (colors, style, the "look") but needed confirmation from us to move in this direction.  It is one of the warmest, most cozy kitchens where you just want to stay and visit (oh, and the homeowners make it this way too - they are delightful!)  We have then carried these colors into the surrounding areas in her home.

Again, stunning, is my word for these dining room chairs we just had custom made.  And these will be coming up in that "room reveal" we promised - once the rug gets delivered (remember, it finally shipped out!).

And these are just some inspiring accessories...I just think they are lovely.  Wouldn't adding just a few pieces throughout YOUR home change it a bit and give you a "new look"?  I'm sure it would.  It can be just THAT easy to freshen up an area...change the accessories!

I hope you enjoyed some just plain fun stuff from us today.  We have our hands into creating all sorts of stuff right now...and everyone is wanting delivery before Christmas!  We will do our best to make this happen...even with the custom items.

Thanks for stopping by...and...

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Tips for being the perfect Holiday Host

If you have guests coming for the holidays then it's time to get started planning...so we've come up with some of our favorite tips to help you out.  Transform your space into their "home away from home".

A striking bedding set is always a nice start to get ready for your guests.  If it's not custom that you choose, then just be sure it is a nice quality of bedding.  Add lots of coordinating throw pillows to add that cozy bit of charm.

KINSEY BEDSET

Be sure you have comfortable sheets on the bed, a good thread count, so your guests will get a good nights rest.  These don't have to be the most expensive to be comfortable and you can usually find a good selection at Bed Bath and Beyond, Steinmart, and even Target.

A choice in pillows is always a nice treat for your guests.  Some like feather pillows and some don't...so why not let them choose.  It's another way to guarantee a good nights rest.

Don't forget to have extra blankets for those cold evenings during the upcoming holiday season.
Home Accents® Cotton Blanket

Providing a bedside table with life's little "luxuries" is always a nice treat for guests...like fresh flowers, bottled water or a carafe of water, an alarm clock, stationery and pens and maybe even an i-pod docking station!

If you have the space, provide a small desk area with ample lighting where they can catch up on emails, or perhaps do some work if necessary.

Once you have the bedroom ready, don't forget to make them feel right at home in the bathroom too.  Be sure to leave them plenty of fresh towels...enough for the length of their stay!

Have a nicely scented candle displayed for them to burn...or have it burning before they arrive.

And...if you want them to think that you think of everything...why not provide them with a comfy pair of spa slippers for their stay with you. You can also add a fluffy white robe too!

A basket or beautiful tray filled with toiletries will also make their visit a little more enjoyable.

Now you have all of our little tips for being the perfect holiday host!  Make your guests feel like they have all the luxuries of a hotel...and more.  It will be a visit they will remember and appreciate!  Oh, and just one last sweet tip...sneak into their room and turn down their bed before they turn in for the night...and leave this for them...on their pillow!!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Stylish Guest Bathrooms

I'm starting today with telling on myself...an old story.  My mom has always told me that from the time I was a really little girl and we were out somewhere I always had to go to the bathroom...every time we went to a different place.  It could be the fabric shop (she sewed), the mall, downtown, a restaurant, a friend's home, etc...it didn't matter, I always "had to go" visit the bathroom.  Now here is the funny part...I would go in and look it over in detail (an early sign of an interior designer maybe??).  Sometimes I may actually use the bathroom, but on rare occasion.  I simply just wanted to check out the bathrooms!  I would say things like "ugh, this bathroom is just not pretty", "oh, I don't like this color at all",  "yuk, this bathroom is nasty", or for those special ones I'd light up and say "wow, this bathroom is really pretty...I like it" (not to mention these are the only ones I'd ever use!).  She said I was fascinated with BATHROOMS...imagine that!  I was too young to really remember this, but to be honest, I am still really picky about which bathrooms I will use!!!

In getting ready for today's blog topic this came to mind for some strange reason...because it's bathrooms no doubt.  I just thought I'd share that funny story with you. Were any of you ever obsessed with anything like this at such a young age?  Now, let's take a look at some guest bathrooms...

Provide a Mirror
Love the colors and the shutter door fronts...and check out that mirror detail in how it's cut to fit the walls!

Accent with Antiques
Double sinks with antique glass front cabinets...different, but lovely.  How about this sassy little hand towel stand they used...how creative is that!

Pair a Bold Color with Clean White
These apple green walls would brighten up any guest bath...and I love the cute window treatment.

Install Wallpaper
How about some graphic wallpaper to spruce things up a bit?

How about these bold stripes and geometric flooring...this one is quite unique!

Black and white...stunning!

A little more traditional style with this gorgeous wallpaper added.

So...how do these bathrooms rate in your mind?  Any styles or colors that you would like?  It is always a good idea to have a styled guest bathroom for your special guests as well as some toiletry items  that they can use.  Be sure to have nice fresh towels and you can even go out of the way and supply terry bath robes...treat them like this though and they may never want to leave!!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
