The World of Window Treatments #7

Happy Monday! I hope you had a splendid weekend and found a great way to celebrate "Super Bowl Sunday". We stayed at home, but had a wonderful time spending it with our special friends (who happen to also be our next door neighbors) eating HOT chili (was a surprise as my hubby fixed it and it wasn't supposed to be THAT hot!), sharing some really good laughs (of course, I can't post all that we were laughing about...right, Tammy?), and the two of us SCRAPBOOKED (a delightful hobby) while the guys watched the game. There is nothing like quality time spent with treasured friends! So, THAT is how we chose to spend our Super Bowl Sunday.

And now, back to our fabulous "world of window treatments"....are you ready for some more colorful inspirations? We said we were going to "spice up" the valance styles a bit. Let's see what we can come up with for this one!!!

Here is one that is again so simple, but has some added trim (which matches the paint) across the front. The colors are simple and delightful. Now, moving on...

I told you...a little more "spice"....what do you think of this one? It is a flat valance that is gathered at the ends (as we previously discussed), BUT it has an arched top and a shaped bottom. There looks to be contrast cording at the top to match the contrast ruffle banding that is sewn on the bottom....and I do believe it is a tassel hanging (could be a pelmet though) in the middle at the bottom. Now this is truly "Simply Irresistible" to me!

Truly a work of art here....don't ya think? A triple layered effect at this window. A blend of all the styles we've talked about too.

I know it's a little hard to see the details in this valance, but it is striking! The details that are added make it that way. This is a great example of how such a simple style can be "spiced up" to make a "Simply Irresistible" design!

Oh, how simple....yet how elegant with the shape and contrast cording all around it. Notice here that this one is actually mounted on the INSIDE of the window frame. The curves in the shape at the bottom offset (or my term "soften") the hard, straight lines of all the crown moulding at the ceiling. This is a great look!

This is in the "swag" family of valance styles. Notice how the style alone is "spiced up" even without all the other fancy embellishments that one could add to it.

And, for the last style of the day....I'll leave you with a window treatment done by us...Alpha & Omega Interiors. This client knew the "look and feel" she wanted in her room and left it up to us to select the fabrics that best coordinated with what she had in the room (and adjoining rooms). I only wish you could see and touch the fabrics as they are gorgeous....the wrapped swags have an iridescent sheen to them! It depends on the lighting and where you are standing as to what color reflects the most. The panel fabric (which we also used as swags) is truly "simply irresistible" in that it has a silken sheen to it with a lovely vine and small floral print. She loved the fabrics and the final result of this treatment...and THAT is what our business is all about....MAKING HAPPY CUSTOMERS! We want to reflect what YOU want in your rooms. Here it is! (Sorry that they are a little dark....need to re-photograph and post)

"Simply Irresistible"... Friday Finds

Can you believe it is once again...Friday? Where does the time go? It has been a crazy, busy week around here, but a really good one! Since it is the end of the week, let's look at a few "finds" and see what YOU think. Remember to share your comments whenever you wish.

What about these Philippe Starck ghost chairs? This is a sleek, modern look that would work especially well in a small area where you don't want chairs that look so heavy. This keeps it light and airy. What clean lines in this room!

Room find....a white room, that is! What an easy way to change your decor with the seasons. Just change out the pillows (change color and theme) and add a few different table top accessories.....and "Wa-La"....your have a new room!

Currey & Company Lighting

What a fabulous starburst wall sconce with antique mirrored panels arranged in the shape of a star. What do your think....a "Simply Irresistible" find? I think so!

Currey & Company Lighting

No, this is NOT a disco ball (as someone once asked...LOL). It is a lovely, elegant globe of crystal. It has a wrought-iron finish with silver leaf highlights to enhance it's beauty. A great look, so I voted it as one of our "Simply Irresistible" Friday Finds.

Currey & Company Lighting

If not the one above, then how about this Crystal Bud Sphere with a vine effect? Can you see this one somewhere in your home or office. Of course... break "out of the box" with some irresistible lighting that is sure to be the talk of your room!

Look at this "inviting" entrance (not to mention the architecture of it). It makes me want to venture inside and stay awhile! How 'bout you? I'm not sure what is inside, but if the outside represents it, then I bet we are sure to enjoy ourselves! But...where is it? Now that, I haven't a clue.

Here is a "Simply Irresistible" bedding ensemble with breath-taking opulence. This collection shimmers with metallic toned fabrics and a classic medallion pattern. The duvet is reversible and look at those exquisite pillows....dripping with gimp, cording and fringe. Oh, check out the wall sconces too! What a Friday Find this is! We have this Eastern Accent Collection (and others) available should you be interested in a bedroom make-over!

PILLOW TALK #3

Hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July! Summer is flying by ever so quickly...so let's get back to our "Pillow Talk". Last post we talked about colors and styles with a mention of putting different fabrics together. Today we will talk about the many options that are available with decorative pillows. They can be found (or made) in various shapes and sizes. Just to mention a few...we have square, rectangle, round, neck roll, triangle, heart-shaped, etc. Keep in mind that you can always mix-n-match shapes as well as fabrics and colors. Let's look at some PILLOW TALK...

Patterned rectangle pillows used here with a square pillow that is ruffled in a
stripe fabric to match the ottoman. How is that for coordinated!

Look at these delicious bold colors and different shapes of pillows used here...WOW!

Notice also that this color palette was built on a neutral background (sofa, leather chair, walls and carpeting are all neutrals). See...even pillows alone can add that punch of color!

This neutral living room is serene and calm without being boring. Details in sky blue and light green, like a pair of accent pillows, a large landscape painting, and potted ivy, spruce up this cozy fireplace.
An all neutral color palette, but look at how the blue pillows add that WOW factor!

Last but not least....the simplicity of a round tapestry pillow.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at the variety of colors and shapes that pillows can be found in and how they can be used to accent your room(s). Next we will be looking at that "extra touch of style" for your pillows.....embellishments. It is sure to be "Simply Irresistible"!

June 21, 2010

Welcome to my Blog! It has "finally" evolved. After months and months of debating if I really wanted to become a member of this type of social media, and after much encouragement along the way, I stepped out and did it. So remember, I am very new to this "blogging life", but I will do my BEST. Just to catch you up to speed...after pondering for days what to name this blog, I still just did not have a clue. I knew that I wanted it to represent many creative designs, unique ideas, and insightful topics from the world of interior design and beyond, in such a way that you would not be able to resist "tuning in" to it . One Saturday, while enjoying my time outside, I realized that I had been "singing" the same song in my head (mostly the chorus along with a few lyrics that I guess just stuck with me!) over and over again. I stopped, only to find myself a little later singing it again....over and over. I simply could NOT stop. I found this quite crazy, but I have to admit, I did LOVE this song in my early years! It was an oldie named "Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer (see YouTube song video). Hours later, it came to me that what I had been singing in my head all day..."simply irresistible"...was it! That was exactly what I could name my new Blog. So, my dear readers, THAT is how the name for my new endeavor was birthed... "Simply Irresistible"...Designs!
