With her extraordinary flair for style, Charlotte Moss has led a celebrated career in interior design after leaving corporate life with Wall Street (yes, Wall Street). Not only is she well known for her designs, but has also authored seven books and has a collection of her own product designs in fabric, rugs, accessories, furniture, etc. She is truly one talented lady...and today we'll be taking a look at some of her gracefully created designs.
I simply love the way she separated each area of this small unit in Manhattan into two livable spaces. Not only was this done with flooring and furniture, but take a look at that see-through screen. This is a great way to show separation, yet it doesn't close the room in at all. I love all the fun colors she used together too.
Take a close up view of those shelves she used on one end of the dining room. This was a great way to be able to display personables without having to take up floor space with a piece of furniture. Very tastefully done...as always with her designs!
Here is one wall of the living room. I simply love how she has mixed green (and I do believe these are chairs by William Sonoma), yellow (book on bottom of table), peach, and then blue in this antique mirror and also in the framed prints. Oh, and how about the diorama between the two lamps?
The other end of the living room is seemingly larger than it really is by using two large oil paintings on the walls mounted all the way up (and with lighting to boot!). The height is actually what takes your eye up to make the area seem larger. A beautiful Schumacher fabric is showcased on the sofas surrounded by pops of more yellow, pink and green.
Here are the pops of yellow and green on the dining room side...and I love the brown leather chairs in here.
Wow...and in this small space she even uses a Niermann Weeks bed like this which is simply stunning, I think. The bed and the window treatments are draped with a beautiful toile fabric from Fabricut.
Here we have a close up of the seating area just on the other side of the bed. Again...what a great use of this small space!
What do you think of this armoire? I love it and with these darker blue panels of fabric, blue chairs, more blues in the art and then topped off with the blue and white ceramic urns...well, let's just say it all works together and it is certainly..."Simply Irresistible".
Now another one of Charlotte's designs with nothing but simplicity...and elegance, of course. I love this gray and red color scheme in this study she did. The red is popped only in the books...great idea to showcase a little flare of color somewhere!
What's not to love about this one? Again, elegant, yet simple, right down to the details. She states that she "believes in the personal treasures that make a room more individual, more beautiful, more alive".
For more incredible designs by Charlotte Moss, her most
recent book is now available and houses over 200 photos. A
great way to spend a week-end...soaking up lots of design
inspiration from historic houses to her exotic travels and her
unique touches that make each room so special! Her book,
Charlotte Moss Decorates, is available at www.amazon.com.
I hope you have enjoyed taking a look into the design style of Charlotte Moss today. Now, you go...make it a"Simply Irresistible" Day!
