A silhouette is defined as a drawing of something, especially a human profile, filled in with a solid color. You have most likely seen them on stationary of some sort or perhaps on jewelry. Let's take a look today at how these unique drawings even have a part to play in interior design.
How about this...they can even be found on clothing!
Even on dishes...
Silhouettes of our family members are a popular find in interior design.
They can be displayed in various ways...
Don't limit yourself to wall hanging alone...these make great displays in cabinets and on table tops as well.
Even a few "propped" on the mantel is a great addition.
There are many silhouette patterns available now-a-days in the wonderful world of wallpaper. Aren't they lovely? A great look for any area.
Here is another great wallpaper...animal silhouettes... by Osborne and Little (available at osborneandlittle.com).
How about adding a flair to the back of a chair...
...or even a pillow?
And here we have it not only in the photos to the sides of this window, but it's on the fabric itself.
Keep in mind, a silhouette is a drawing of "anything" that is filled in with color...so these damask fabrics (from osborneandlittle.com) are also considered a "silhouette". We just seem to think of them as only a human profile...but, as you can see, that's certainly not the case.
So remember...a little (or a lot) of color can be added in... even with the use of these lovely silhouettes around your room.
Enjoy your day and be sure to make it...
"Simply Irresistible"!
