Add a Little Color

...to those white kitchens!

Christmas has passed and I hope each and every one of you had a truly blessed one.  It's always a wonderful time of year, even a midst all the 'hustle and bustle'.  So, since we are now approaching a brand new year I thought we'd share a few tips for adding a little color to white kitchens...a fresh new change for the upcoming year! These are some photos we just couldn't resist sharing with you...

You'll find that this kitchen has soft yellow walls but even if you don't repaint to add color there you can always just add a pop of color to your chairs...whether at the island...or at the table.  Then just be sure to add in a few accessories to repeat the color in that room.  Isn't this pretty?

This is one of MY all-time favorites here...again, the painted chairs and the lighting here repeats the color...all of which I dearly love.  Doesn't it totally change the look and feel of this room?

Another great way would be to paint your island a color that you love and one that will work with your adjoining rooms.  This just helps to warm up this otherwise all-white kitchen.  Here, the repeat of the green is in the tiles over the stove...see?  I like the little 'pops' of red accents in here with this green too!

The only color change in this kitchen is the painted ceiling, but look how much change and ambiance it creates...wow!

Adding in a few upholstered pieces in your fave color is always an option too...and here the green from the fabric is transferred over to the back area of the kitchen with green accessories being displayed all throughout the glass front cabinetry. Really lovely!

This isn't really 'color' added in, however, by adding in a more graphic pattern on the floor in black-and-white it still creates a  cozy and inviting white kitchen...not to mention the fabrics used in this area too that make it all the more COZY.

And as I say...when in doubt...add window treatments and rugs...in color.  This is sure to brighten up and change any white kitchen!

If you feel some of the above changes are to permanent then you call always just add in plenty of lovely accessories and dishes...in color.  This can transform your white kitchen as well.  How easy is that?

Here is another one of my faves (what is it with me and RED lately?)
If you will look around you will see simple changes...the red and white striped dish towel at the sink, a red planter on the counter, a solid red rug, and the seat cushions recovered in a pattern.  That's it...so easy and very affordable for sure.  Changes this entire area!

Whoa!....and THIS my sweet readers...is for those of you that are a little lot more daring and want a big change going into the new year!  Are YOU daring enough for this?  To paint all of those white cabinets AND add in all the accents in that same color (i.e. rug, seat cushions, etc.).

So now you have no excuses!  From simple changes to massive changes...you have hints and tips to transform your very own white kitchen for the new year!  Wouldn't it be nice to make a plan to transform each area, one at a time, over the course of 2014 and then see all of the major change that takes place from now...until the end of next year?  Wow!  I bet we could really tackle alot of those areas that we keep putting off year after year!  So here is the inspiration for the kitchen....now...for my famous advice I even give to myself...

JUST DO IT!

A Little more ColorLESS?

Don't quite know what's up with the changes in my design style lately, but I am so very drawn to creme as a neutral backdrop these days.  I usually go for the bold and colorful, but now find myself eyeballing a change.  Here's a room I'm envisioning for my own greatroom...and I simply love how any color can then be accented (and easily changed when I grow tired of that color!).  Hum...do I see re-design in my near future?  Could be!

Or what about this lovely neutral bedroom...

where to pops of color are found only in the accessories!

And yet another beautiful foyer area...

Or a kitchen with just the pops of color...

What do YOU think?  Neutral...or lots of color?  Just wondering!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Fun Ways to add Pops of Color

I seem to have "pops of color" on my mind alot lately mostly due to a calm, serene bedroom design we are working on...but where we also need some pops of color (red, in this client's case) to tie in with the adjoining room.  Not too much "pop"...so I'm thinking maybe just red flowers, a red pillow, or maybe even a red throw.  Anyway, THAT is what led me to today's post.

Here are just a few ways that you can pop some bold color into your spaces...all of them quite charming ideas actually.  Take a look!

Spray paint curtain rods for a pop of color
I love these brightly painted rods and finials.  This would surely change the look in a room!

cool painted stairs
How about some bold and beautiful painted stairs...along with some encouraging inspiration on each one.  How unique and creative this is, don't ya think?

HomeGoods | Home Page Decorative Accessories
With this idea you can add that pop of color to your walls with your own photos if you'd like.  I love it...how about you?

What creative ways have YOU popped color in your home...inside or outside?  We'd love to share some of YOUR ideas!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Blue Monday!

Well, "blue" in color only!  Just a couple of beautiful blue spaces I ran across that I thought I'd share.

I could see this as a lovely office space...couldn't you?  Yes, please, I'll take it.  I love this table and the slipcovered chairs...and of course, all the blue.  Here the blues are all soft shades and then the statement is made with the...flowers...bold and beautiful!

What do you think of having the blue walls as well as the blue on the ceiling?  Like or dislike?  I like the feel it gives the room.  I also love the mix of darker wood with the whitewashed finished pieces.  It gives it so much more character than "matchy-matchy".  Don't you agree?

Here's one that has calmer surroundings (white walls) and just pops in this vibrant blue with these luscious chairs.  I really do like this look too...how about YOU?

So, for YOUR "blue Monday"...which blue photo represents YOU?

Hope your day is "Simply Irresistible"!

"Editing"...for Spring!

We talked about thinking ahead and preparing ideas for our home...for Spring time!  Many times all we need is to "edit"
our design a bit. To edit means to "modify" or "revise"...so, don't you agree that sometimes this is all we need to do to give our space a whole new look and feel?  It doesn't HAVE to be complicated...or even expensive for that matter.  Today we will take a look at a few ways to achieve this "edited" look for the upcoming season!

This is just simply a "vision of Spring loveliness" to me...

Let's look at some fun ways you can get ready to "edit" your space for Spring...

Dash and Albert Parasol Stripe Woven Cotton Rug
For starters you can always add a cotton rug by Dash and Albert to an area to brighten it up...let's say in the kitchen, foyer, or even in the bathrooms.  Luscious colors, such as these, are sure to bring a smile to anyone!

Or even a floral one like this...now THIS, is what I'd call "my style"...I love it.  How about you?

Changing out your lamps can also be an easy way to bring in the springtime.  A lovely lilac lamp here from Currey & Company could be a great choice for any spot.

Or maybe you'd prefer some upbeat yellow lamps to add in that dash of spring color...also from Currey & Company.

Close this window
Let your walls talk...with an updated splash of bright color like this pair of framed art.

28X28 FRESH AIR IV
Or this abstract one...hey, this would look GREAT with those yellow lamps...don't ya think? This combo would definitely get those spring colors flowing in your home!

28X28 MARBLES 6
...Or even with this artwork...what is it?  It's marbles!  How fun is that!!

Aqua Ceramic Vases
And last, but certainly not least...edit those accessories too!  Add in some brightness on those countertops or table tops in your home.

Peacock Blue Recycled Glass VaseMetallic Lime Recycled Glass VaseRed Recycled Glass Vase

Oh what a great table top trio these would make...look at all that COLOR!  It certainly says "Springtime" to me!

Yellow Delune Flower Frame

Maybe it's time to change up those family photo frames...a simple way to pop more color.

Turquoise Swirl Bowls
Look at these swirled Italian hand-painted bowls that can be worked into those table tops too.  Aren't they great?

Aarhus Box-Firecracker
Don't forget that decorative boxes can be a fun way to accessorize and add color too.

Acadia Orange and Cream Oval Wastebasket
Accessories such as this bright orange trashcan can brighten up any office space...or bathroom!

OK, now I have to ask you....are YOU ready for Spring yet?  I know I am.  I can't wait to add in some of these wonderful bright colors this year.  Many things that I usually don't "edit" in my own home may just be revised this year...how about YOU?  Do you now have some good ideas to try?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Fresh Color Palettes

green walls with botanical art
You can always use your "fave" color in varying shades...like this green here.

yellow living room with bay window and zebra rug
Lemonade and raspberries anyone?  Combining such bold colors with neutrals is always a great look!

blue, purple and white living room with white French doors and hydrangeas
When using a monochromatic color-scheme such as this, mix in lots of white to add interest to the room.

green living room with white fireplace and wood trim
Green again...what about this cottage look here.  Bright and bold, huh?

light brown wall and colorful pillows
Brown and blue remains a strong colorway.  Isn't this a relaxing room that you could just nestle down in.  I love mixing patterns in pillows on solid furniture pieces...and check out this lamp shade that adds some more pizzazz!

brightly colored living room with yellow walls and green armoire
Pastel hues of green, blue and yellow make this a cozy setting for sure.  How about these other "pops" of color used here like orange and pink...LOVE it!

large window with modern furniture
I don't think I'll ever tire of clean lines and white...such a clean, fresh look!

mix and match pink
Pink and brown ... hum, a very sophisticated combo here, wouldn't you agree?  I love this chocolate triple gourd lamp too!

white cottage living room with floral pillow accents
Another all white room with the personality being added in with pillows...and of course, these lovely table accessories.  "Simply Irresistible" if my vote counts!

yellow and white living room with pink accents
Take a gander at all the lovely colors going on in this room.  Adding in some antique pieces is a sure way to add instant character too!

tangerine wall and round ottoman
With Tangerine Tango being the new color for 2012 this room might qualify since it's in the orange family.  Have you decided if you like or dislike this color yet?

bedroom
Yellow always adds some sunshine...in any room!

Mix up Finishes
I simply love using navy, black and white together in a room.  It adds such drama to the feel of the room, yet it remains inviting.  How about this tiny little "pop" of red on the nightstand...see it?  Love it!

Platform bed
One of my "fave" color combos is turquoise, yellow, and pink (see the flowers?)...very soft and serene!

There...you have it...many fresh color schemes and ideas to start the new year off right.  Do YOU have a "fave" that you'd like to do in one of your rooms this year?  Which colors, which rooms?...we'd love to know.

Thanks for stopping by and...

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
