Color Mix

Color Mix...???  I'm talking about a mix of two colors used together that I find myself (a hot pink gal, that is) swooning over these days. Several weeks ago when I was in a slowed down mode (a very rare occasion I assure you!) one day I actually had the time to notice the bright blue sky, the luscious green grass and trees (before this hot weather scorched it all) and the large white fluffy clouds...oh my!  It was an absolutely breathtaking moment!  Sounds crazy, right?  The things we take for granted because we are way too busy...but THAT day, I saw it clearly.  I stood there almost mesmerized by the beauty.

Since that day I have become somewhat obsessed with ways to use these colors together.  They certainly aren't the colors in my own home really, but I love blue, green, and white together...so I rounded these up for you to take a look at...

A Classic Exterior
Remember the Jersey Shore home?  You'll find this color scheme surrounding the outside of the home too...and look at those blue shutters would ya!  Well, now just step inside...

American Idyll: Kitchen
Ah!  See, aren't these colors just gorgeous together?  And look how easy this would be to accomplish.  White cabinets (like the white fluffy clouds I saw) are a given here.  Just add in some barstools (or even seat cushions if you prefer) in a fabric like this Lee Jofa stripe.  Next let's take some color to the floor with a blue area rug (ocean inspired, no doubt)...and voila, there, you have this blue, green and white kitchen to relax in!

American Idyll: Family Room
The family room follows this color scheme, but look at how the green is mostly OUTSIDE of the window, but it just sets the tone in this room and seems to be a part of this area, doesn't it?  The designer also added some green plants and table-top flowers to add just a little extra pop of green inside too...lovely!

American Idyll: Dining Room
As we step into this room we see several varying shades of blue.  The only pops of green are on these custom pillows and of course...the outside!

American Idyll: Master Bedroom
I could indeed move right into here for a few days (or weeks!!) with this blue, green and white bedroom...and just like the outdoor colors mesmerized me...so would this picture above the fireplace...you know, that's the beach-girl in me!!!  See, don't these colors look smashing together?

And just when you think it can't get any better...
American Idyll: Master Bedroom
More of these relaxing colors in here...and check out that rug...and that VIEW that is keeping with the color scheme!

American Idyll: Master Bath
We can't leave out the master bath...with it's blue counter top and all the green accents around.

OK, folks....and last but not least...the balcony
American Idyll: Balcony
I won't even say a word about it here....just let the beauty of it speak for itself...just like it did to me that day I stood staring at the beauty of nature all around me.

So, what's YOUR take on my new found love of blue, green and white?  Do YOU have these colors together in your surroundings?  If so, do tell.

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Swooning over Blue...

Now that we have begun to crawl out from all the paperwork of being off for a few days (that's what yesterday was all about!)...I can now see clearly and it has me thinking of BLU E...Summer!  And can you guess what color inspires me to think of summer?  Yep...BLUE!

Blue just has a way of making everything look better...calm, soothing, relaxing, etc....which makes me think of how I feel when I'm at the beach or in the pool (pool blue!).  Shall we jump in?

blue living room
Several different shades of blue make this monochromatic space look and feel sooooo "comfy".  Don't you agree?

Love the soft blues with lots of white!  Such an inspiring spot to relax in after a long day!

A more traditional feel, but so calming....love that pop of red in here (flowers, see them?).

More blue and white beauty...ah, am I at the coast already or what??

house beautiful magazine march 2012 color issue
I've used this chairs style several time, but not in this blue...Wow!  Stunning!

Now BLUE in the bathroom is even better than the old slogan..."Calgon, take me away"!

Well, I hope you are refreshed just from taking a look at these beautiful blue spaces today...what about YOU?  Do you incorporate blue into your room designs?  The entire room or just accents of blue...do tell and share!

Thanks for stopping by and once again...

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Homeowner Inspired by the Sea

I certainly hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.  I surely did! Of course I don't think I ever really take time off from searching for lovely things to bring to the blog...even on holidays.  It is relaxing and I enjoy it so much that I never seem to stop!

Today I just had to share with you some great photos from a homeowner that decorated her home so tastefully, yet livable, and actually got her inspiration from the sea! Take a look at how each room reflects her love of what she was intrigued by...the spectrum of colors from the blue water and sky, the neutrals of the sand and driftwood, the white from the shells, etc. These photos were showcased in last month's issue of  Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. I just fell in love when I saw them...and I hope you will enjoy! (Oh, the photos run over just a bit, but I wanted to enlarge them so you could better see the details of each room.)

Beth Elsey, this homeowner, has certainly accomplished the charm in her Georgian style home with simplicity, yet style and elegance...and indeed a bit of that Southern charm. You can also easily see the display of balance and symmetry in each room in her choice and placement of the accessories. I just found it all to be "Simply Irresistible"! It is evident that her inspiration came from the childhood time spent at the beach, as she explains in the article. She says this dictated the direction for decorating her home.  It definitely has all the ingredients to reflect a calming ambiance... wouldn't you agree?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
