Refreshing Moments

I was on the hunt for inspiring outdoor spaces and here are just a few that I found...

What kind of outdoor spaces do YOU like to spend your time in?  Isn't is so true that if you only have even fifteen minutes in your day or evening to step-away from everything...it refreshes you just to go outside in an area like any one of these!  Which one did YOU pick?  Any guesses on where you'd find ME?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Outdoor Living

How do you live your summers?  Do you enjoy spending most of your time outdoors?  Have you considered an outdoor kitchen?

Kitchens like this are very popular in the good 'ole coastal states (especially in Florida)...and I simply love them!  It's a great place to come home to after a long day, throw some food on the grill, sit around and relax with family or friends...

or perhaps even take a dip in the pool - which is another 'fave' of mine when it comes to outdoor living!

So how do YOU enjoy outdoor living at home?  Do you have areas for outdoor luxury that you've created?  Do you make them a part of your everyday living?  I think we should!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Weekend Dreaming...and Fun Ideas!

I am SO glad the weekend is here!  It is much needed around here even though I have several projects I want to get done (any of you like that...always working on your day off?).

Here's a cute little idea I'd like to try...a paper placement in a breakfast tray! What a great idea and you can change the color/design any time the mood strikes!  How easy it that.

Wouldn't some of these colorful spoons brighten up any outdoor tablescape?  Now, bring on the homemade ice cream!

And this is where the weekend dreaming comes in...
Yes, please.

How many of you out there can testify to the fact that over time your tastes change...in design, that is?  Is it just ME?  I now find myself being drawn to rooms like this...

Maybe it's the simplicity of it?  I think it's the grounding of all the neutrals that makes it "feel" simple and then the lovely "pops" of color (which I tend to love!) that gives me that warm and cozy feeling.  Not too sure really, but I know I really do like it.  And normally, this is so NOT me!  What about YOU?  Do you find this room fits your taste?  Do your tastes change after a few years too?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Weekend!

Hurricanes, Lanterns and Candle Holders - NEW!

Speak of getting things ready for the summer...I thought I'd share these new beauties with you!

Now for the tough part...which do YOU want in your outdoor (or perhaps indoor) space this year?  You can even put citronella candles in them to keep the bugs away.  Decisions, decisions!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Outdoor PINK!

I hope most of you have now had some spring-like weather to enjoy in your outdoor spaces.  We've had lots of chilly days (and some cold nights), but I think that has changed (hopefully!) as of yesterday. It's time to be outside enjoying the beauty of nature...and our freshly decorated outdoor living spaces, right?

I could surely go for this outdoor living space...with PINK!  Believe it or not, as much as I LOVE pink...I have no pink outside!  This year I have chosen to go with REDS for the front porch area and honestly, the back deck has just been painted so I haven't even thought about exactly what I want out there yet.  I think that is why this photo inspired me so much...hum, may be inspiration enough to get me started in the right direction.  After all, reds and pinks DO go together!

What about YOU...what relaxing spots have you now created outside your home?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Shopping from Home

I don't know about any of you, but for me, when I just need a "brain break" (especially in the evening) it helps me relax to SHOP!  OK, not out-and-about after a hard day's work, but shopping from HOME!  Any of you like that?  Want to see a few of the latest items on my radar?

JM Shopping-1

First, I started with a few great room selections in green...to reflect all of the green grass I now see sprouting outside once again!  Then I moved on right into the dining room (or breakfast nook I suppose).      I didn't "buy" the tulips on the table as I already had these.

And for a taste of just outside the great room doors...onto the back outside area...I ended up with these gorgeous chairs (don't they look comfy?), some outdoor pillows that are sure to give me my PINK-fix, and a lovely outdoor chandelier...in pink!

So now you can see that I did indeed go shopping, right?  All done in the coziness of home. I have a name for this, I call it...cheap retail therapy (meaning I really didn't "buy" anything yet)! How about YOU...have you shopped online lately? You may want to hop on over to Joss & Main too for more of their great finds before they are gone! You may be able to pull together a few rooms for yourself there.  Enjoy!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Daydreaming!

Today, I am...

Traditional Home

DAYDREAMING...that this were outside the back of "my" house and that I was in this pool!  However, this isn't reality (yet anyway!) and I certainly don't have the time to be doing that today...so, for now...

I can only DAYDREAM!!!

What do YOU daydream about?

Hoping your day is "Simply Irresistible"!

Color Mix

Color Mix...???  I'm talking about a mix of two colors used together that I find myself (a hot pink gal, that is) swooning over these days. Several weeks ago when I was in a slowed down mode (a very rare occasion I assure you!) one day I actually had the time to notice the bright blue sky, the luscious green grass and trees (before this hot weather scorched it all) and the large white fluffy clouds...oh my!  It was an absolutely breathtaking moment!  Sounds crazy, right?  The things we take for granted because we are way too busy...but THAT day, I saw it clearly.  I stood there almost mesmerized by the beauty.

Since that day I have become somewhat obsessed with ways to use these colors together.  They certainly aren't the colors in my own home really, but I love blue, green, and white together...so I rounded these up for you to take a look at...

A Classic Exterior
Remember the Jersey Shore home?  You'll find this color scheme surrounding the outside of the home too...and look at those blue shutters would ya!  Well, now just step inside...

American Idyll: Kitchen
Ah!  See, aren't these colors just gorgeous together?  And look how easy this would be to accomplish.  White cabinets (like the white fluffy clouds I saw) are a given here.  Just add in some barstools (or even seat cushions if you prefer) in a fabric like this Lee Jofa stripe.  Next let's take some color to the floor with a blue area rug (ocean inspired, no doubt)...and voila, there, you have this blue, green and white kitchen to relax in!

American Idyll: Family Room
The family room follows this color scheme, but look at how the green is mostly OUTSIDE of the window, but it just sets the tone in this room and seems to be a part of this area, doesn't it?  The designer also added some green plants and table-top flowers to add just a little extra pop of green inside too...lovely!

American Idyll: Dining Room
As we step into this room we see several varying shades of blue.  The only pops of green are on these custom pillows and of course...the outside!

American Idyll: Master Bedroom
I could indeed move right into here for a few days (or weeks!!) with this blue, green and white bedroom...and just like the outdoor colors mesmerized me...so would this picture above the fireplace...you know, that's the beach-girl in me!!!  See, don't these colors look smashing together?

And just when you think it can't get any better...
American Idyll: Master Bedroom
More of these relaxing colors in here...and check out that rug...and that VIEW that is keeping with the color scheme!

American Idyll: Master Bath
We can't leave out the master bath...with it's blue counter top and all the green accents around.

OK, folks....and last but not least...the balcony
American Idyll: Balcony
I won't even say a word about it here....just let the beauty of it speak for itself...just like it did to me that day I stood staring at the beauty of nature all around me.

So, what's YOUR take on my new found love of blue, green and white?  Do YOU have these colors together in your surroundings?  If so, do tell.

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Outdoor Living

Well it's the start of another work week...what did YOU do this weekend?  Believe it or not, I still do not have our deck area off from the breezeway...ready for Spring (much less Summer!).  I know, I always talk about how important those first impressions are when someone walks up to your door...you want it to be "inviting and cozy".  So do I and it's been driving me crazy that I can't seem to get it done...HELP!!!

Over the weekend I was thinking about this picture I had seen...

I just love this b/w gazebo...it's charming.  I'd love to be able to add this in somewhere...hum, maybe so!  However, I think it's the black-n-white stripes that I am really loving.  I like this look! So, it got me to thinking.

I started looking for a little inspiration for all the ideas rolling around in my head.  Pillows...ok, yea, I could do cushions and/or pillows in this classic stripe.  Oh, how I LOVE that awning though and we desperately need one to give us more shade too!

Here's another one...
Source

This one even looks like our outdoor furniture...so maybe white cushions with the b/w striped pillows...but is that enough for me?  Not so sure it is!  (See, I really do have a hard time deciding for ME!)

Here they are...Love them!

...Or...

Maybe sport the stripes on a new umbrella too...hum, still not sure.  See, I told ya...I need HELP!  I just cannot pull this look together for myself!!

Oh, and I even ran across these adorable paper lanterns by Z Gallerie...what do you think?

And then I moved on to THIS...

Oh me oh my...I LOVE turquoise with the black and white...now, I am possibly on the right path for the design of my outdoor areas...turquoise, black and white....yea, I think that's it!  But now, I still need a design plan for exactly how to carry it out. Any ideas out there???

Here are a few other items I spotted along the way in my "inspiration quest"...

Take a look at this really neat chair for your outdoor area...I just loved it.  I already have the solid black woven furniture...but isn't  this chair great?  Who knows, maybe YOU are still trying to put your outdoor look together!  Hopefully I'm not the only one out there that is trying to make it happen...towards the END of June!

For now, all I know is I love this rug (in black) from Ballard Designs and think these would go well on my deck...I'd need two of them.  Now I just need to do a design board for ME, right?  That way maybe I can pull it all together...before the end of summer (Ha!)

How did YOU design your outdoor spaces this year?  What colors did you decide on?  Is it finished...or are you just getting started too?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Things I LOVE...Day #24

I guess all of this warm weather has gotten the best of me...even though it's only February.  Take a look and see if you can guess what love I am sharing with you today on our "29 Days of Things I Love" series.

Pretty easy guess, huh?  I love...OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES!  Whether it be a cozy front porch, a screened-in porch, a deck...I can always enjoy myself here.  These are spaces that can have charm and personality just like inside your home, but you can relax with a bit of nature surrounding you...sounds pretty nice in this springlike weather!  How about YOU...do you have a cozy space outside that you enjoy?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Weekend!
