A Dose of Turquoise

Hi friends!  It's been awhile...as I've been 'up to my eyeballs' with custom projects for clients therefore no blog-time left at the end of the day.  At least now Spring is upon us, right?  That always makes it even more inspiring to talk about....all things design! So, let's do it, shall we?

As I've mentioned before I love love love customizing products for clients (especially window treatments)...I truly do.  However, I've also recently been working on another project, for a rental house, that isn't custom.  I mean can you imagine doing 'custom' window treatments in a RENTAL?  I don't think so! But, this client wants "The Look for Less".

Here is the design spark (i.e. 'starting point') for this entire room...

Isn't it gorgeous? Well, that's MY opinion!  I love the birds and I love the bold colors. These were actually ready-made draperies that I found online for this project.  If you knew me, you'd know I am a 'want to see and touch' person...not really an online shopper, so I immediately headed to the local store.  Here they are...

They are much more gorgeous (yes, 'gorgeous') in person!  And much to my surprise...they were LINED!  I knew immediately...this was it!  I ordered hardware from our hardware vendor in Vintage Gold...here is the finial...and the poles are this finish as well.

Perfect with the golds in the draperies.  I will use them as stationary side panels to each side of the window...not pulled together and tied back as above.  Well, here you go...we just installed a few days ago.

We found a dining room table that would be just right in this space (it is a formal living room and dining room - carpeted, I might add - how often do you see a carpeted dining room these days?). I might just mention this table was found in a 'clearance sale' at a furniture store.  I went in 'KNOWING' I wouldn't find a thing in the clearance area, but I'd just LOOK....was I ever wrong! It was on clearance because there were no chairs to go with it.  But...we didn't want 'matchy-matchy' anyway in this room...so it was a WINNER!

The drapery finials, in that vintage gold, will work so well with these carved legs on the table!

Next...enter these velvet button-tufted turquoise chairs!  Oh yeh!  I just loved popping this color with that table.  I might mention that they are more the color in the drapery fabric than they look here. Four of these for side chairs would be just right.  Guess where these were found? Right here.
Question....are YOU able to mix furniture styles...especially legs on furniture like we are doing here?  Just curious!  It's a great eclectic look ya know!  Next step will be finding some unique arm chairs (on a little larger scale) for the ends of the table...hum, my brain is swirling with loads of ideas now.

Here's a little peek from this angle...see the chair!

Here is a little better view with the pretty table top...and the 'puddled' drapery panels...which I just LOVE!

So, for today, that sums it up for our RENTAL design.  We are just getting started as we have lots more to do.  This will be a really fun challenge...and all done on a tight budget.  Hey, we can do it! Everyone deserves to have their home...turned into a HAVEN...even if they are renting for a season, right?

If YOU need help pulling together a design plan for your home...just let us know.  We'll get in touch with you and give you all the information you'll need to get started working with us!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

GLAM Dining Spaces

I ran across several 'glam' dining rooms that I thought I'd share.  Since I am in the process of revamping my own dining room I was just browsing through some ideas. Yes, I am in the business of interior design, but...I am my own worst client!  There are just so many choices and options out there, many of which I love, and sometimes that alone leaves me indecisive about my own choices and I tend to do nothing.  That has to change!

What I love, now-a-days, is the mix of all things...and no more 'matchy-matchy'.  Remember when the furniture in the dining rooms all looked the same?  The chairs matched the table, the buffet matched it too....etc.  Well, that certainly has changed and I for one am glad it did.  How about YOU?

Here were a few of the 'glam' ones I liked...
Such casual elegance!

Years ago...would anyone have ever put a 'contemporary' piece of artwork...with a crystal chandelier?  I doubt it.  At least I never saw one. (I am talking years ago, if you are wondering!)  I just adore this room!

The chairs all match in here, but the table base is quite unique and the buffet is a painted piece...not to mention it's all mixed well with lots of pattern.

Here again, the chairs match, but the other pieces aren't a matching 'set'.  I love how it's sort of a traditional feel to the room...but by bringing in that pop of bright color used throughout (even on that door - isn't that luscious?) it just changes the overall 'feel' of this room. Know what I mean?

This one is so much more relaxed...but it's still 'glam' to me!

Which 'glam' style do YOU prefer?  Aren't you glad that 'matchy matchy' is no longer the norm?  I just bet you are!  I can say this...my dining room area will not be the 'norm' either.  I may just reveal bits and pieces of it to you later during the process.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Hello Lovlies

Hi!  Long time away from 'blogland' so I wanted to say hello to each of you readers.  Thanks for not giving up on me yet...after being gone for so long.  In the meantime, I've yet to figure out how time goes by so quickly now-a-days...any clue?

I had the pleasure of going on an extended vacation...half a month and it was wonderful.  Our interior design projects have been keeping me ever so busy...before leaving town and of course such was the case upon my return.  There has been LOTS going on around here, both in business AND in our personal lives...all good, but extremely time consuming. I expect several changes to be coming up in the very near future...but that's all I will say for now!

Again, thanks for sticking by and I hope you will continue along for the "ride of many changes"...!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Shopping from Home

I don't know about any of you, but for me, when I just need a "brain break" (especially in the evening) it helps me relax to SHOP!  OK, not out-and-about after a hard day's work, but shopping from HOME!  Any of you like that?  Want to see a few of the latest items on my radar?

JM Shopping-1

First, I started with a few great room selections in green...to reflect all of the green grass I now see sprouting outside once again!  Then I moved on right into the dining room (or breakfast nook I suppose).      I didn't "buy" the tulips on the table as I already had these.

And for a taste of just outside the great room doors...onto the back outside area...I ended up with these gorgeous chairs (don't they look comfy?), some outdoor pillows that are sure to give me my PINK-fix, and a lovely outdoor chandelier...in pink!

So now you can see that I did indeed go shopping, right?  All done in the coziness of home. I have a name for this, I call it...cheap retail therapy (meaning I really didn't "buy" anything yet)! How about YOU...have you shopped online lately? You may want to hop on over to Joss & Main too for more of their great finds before they are gone! You may be able to pull together a few rooms for yourself there.  Enjoy!

A Thankful Heart

I  know we all have alot to be thankful for every single day, right?  But isn't it nice to have this special Thanksgiving holiday to celebrate just that...all that we have to thank God for!  Every good and special gift in our lives is from Him.

How are you celebrating?  With family?  With friends?  I bet each of you are making your grocery lists, shopping, setting the table...all in preparation for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

I love to spend time getting everything "just right" for our meal together...wishing each and every family member could be here to celebrate with us!

Do you have a themed table this year?  If so, please share...we'd love to see what inspires you this holiday season.

Wishing you a "Simply Irresistible" and blessed Thanksgiving!

Mad About You!

A wonderful new line of furniture from one of our vendors we frequently use and I am getting to use a few pieces on some upcoming projects...ya hoo!

I am loving this Cane Bed...in this white finish!  Isn't she a beauty?

The six drawer chest (that was in yesterday's post) will be going in a bedroom we're doing.

How about this lovely Cabriole Night Stand...yes, it too was in yesterday's post to be used with the darker finish chest above.  No matchy-matchy here!

Oh, and for the dining room of the week...here it is...
Primrose Hill
I simply love every detail...how about you? Isn't this furniture grand?

An upholstered sofa too...I love the curves on the arms!

Pedestal Accent Table - love the apron details on this piece.

What about this Veranda Console?  Like?

Ok, I'm sure by now I've shown you why I'm 'mad' about this collection and the fact that I get to deliver several pieces soon.  Did you have a favorite piece?  You can go here to view more in this collection...and many more too....Enjoy!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

What I Like about You

"You" meaning...this photo of a Lily Pulitzer room.  OMG, I am simply in love with it! (Sorry for the over-run of photo, but wanted it large enough so you can see it good.)

First, and you know this one by now...it's PINK!

Second, it could be created in a room where the homeowner already has furniture that may even have a little more traditional flair.

Thirdly, love the pineapple (southern hospitality) legs on this traditional table.

Fourthly (is that even a word?), the banquette seating on the far wall actually blends right into the "Lilly" wallpaper.  You barely even notice this piece of furniture in the photo since it's covered in fabric that matches the wallpaper.

Fifthly, The hot PINK end chair is...well, "to die for"!

Sixthly (once again, is this a word?), the skirted parson chairs...oh my!  I love that they are white and corded with hot PINK.  This small detail makes a huge impact on these chairs...an often forgotten way of adding flair to upholstery. (Always remember...it's in the "details"!)

Seventhly, the contemp mirror and light fixture...even with the "traditional" furniture pieces.

Eighthly, the all over pops of lime green in here as accents to the pink and white color scheme.

Ninthly, the fact that it looks like no rug was even used in here...hum, and it doesn't look "hard or cold" at all from not using one.  I am now liking this idea!

And just because I like, OK, LOVE this room...here it is one more time...

What do YOU like about this room?

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
Ta-Ta!

New Issue of Adore

Happy Sunday!  As for my easy weekend reading this is a new release I'll definitely need to get my hands on...know why?  Come on now, your first two guesses don't even count!  You should KNOW why if you've been following for long...

I "adore" (no pun intended!) these PINK chairs...not only the color, my fave, but this style.  We recently installed a client project using this style too.  "Simply Irresistible"...and I haven't even seen the inside of it yet!

Hope your Sunday has been a relaxing one!

Room Rescue

Today, I think I will share one of our current design projects that we  have just completed...wanna see?  It's the dining room of one of our clients we have been working with a room at the time.

It all started like this...on an inspiration board for our clients...

The inspiration board did just that...it "inspired" our homeowners and they decided it was time to give this room the green light to move forward with the makeover.  So, we placed the orders for all the "beauties" that would soon go in this room...as they opted for our "turn key" service.

A lovely warm cocoa oval dining table, with a star-burst top, takes center stage in the room.  It has two 20" leaves available so they will have room enough for their guests (however, the room is fairly small so actually only one can be used). It was just the perfect style for their tastes! I love the clean lines with that little taper flair on the bottom of the legs.

Next, the buffet...decided to use the matching buffet in this room design since (1) the room is small and (2) since they have an antique china cabinet that they also wanted to keep in this room (shown on inspiration board).  We simply moved it to another wall and placed this lovely buffet on the largest wall.  This way we won't have too many different furniture finishes going on in this small space.

Now, this buffet would not look complete unless it was surrounded with some color...right?  And, we needed the right colors since the walls are painted with Sherwin Williams "Brevado Red" shown here...

SW6320 Bravado Red

Are you ready for some accessory reveal?  OK, here is the hand-painted oil painting we selected for this project to go over the buffet and on that Bravado Red wall...not only did we carefully select it for the colors (which you've just GOT to see with the rug...a bit later!), but also for the framing which was perfect for the decor and also for the size...these are all important factors when selecting just the right accessories for your room...Here it is (oh, did I mention...she just absolutely LOVES flowers!)

Isn't it lovely?

A pair of these beautiful, also hand-painted, porcelain lamps in green, gold and red now frame out this artwork on either end of the buffet.  The colors pull from the colors in the picture and bring in another pattern - a striped swirl.

This really doesn't show the beauty of the colors well, but it's the best I could do for now...until we show you the real room reveal with everything in place from this make-over!

Are you now ready to see what kind of chairs we selected to go around this table?  Ah, they are beautiful....and no, they don't match the set...nope...we needed an element of softness and wanted to showcase more green in this room...here is the style. You can see the REAL thing soon.  These were custom-made in a luscious velvety green fabric that we also selected...different (and darker!) from this green shown here from catalog.

And I saved the thing that grounds the entire room for last...the rug!  I spotted this newly released rug at the High Point Furniture Market in April actually, knowing that we'd be doing this client's dining room when we finished another one of her projects...and I just knew it was THE one for her!  It has just recently been made available for shipment and finally came in (remember me being so excited when it came that I posted about it!!).  After a long wait for it...Here it is...

The colors are so lush and vibrant and it is absolutely perfect for her room.  We have been so excited as this entire project has unfolded...and so have our clients!  Once all of these were in, we topped it all off with those much needed accessories...you know, the "jewelry" that helps make that final WOW factor in a room! Since it was so near Thanksgiving we did Fall accessories (and are now getting ready to change seasons for her with new Christmas accessories!).

Well, being as this is the first room I have shared and unfolded this way on here...I hope you have enjoyed it.  I promise to reveal the entire room with pictures real soon.  I may even share "before" pics too. Thanks for sharing any opinions that you'd like to...and...let us know if you'd like to see more room reveals this way.

Remember, if you'd like to make YOUR room a little more..."Simply Irresistible"...then let us know!

Have yourself a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Dining Room Frenzy

Well, this is definitely the week that dining rooms have our full attention...with it being Thanksgiving. In honor of this holiday and all the wonderful family and friend gatherings that will take place on Thursday...let's turn all eyes on dining rooms today! The place where we will gather to eat and share all of the many good things we have to be thankful for. They are many!

How about this beauty...know what I love?  The gorgeous chandelier and the blue glasses with all the green.

I can't pick just "one" thing in here...it starts with the color on the ceiling, down to the wallpaper and draperies, then on to the lovely table arrangements, and downward to the details of the trim on the chairs, and of course, the rug too!  There, you have it, I love every detail I do believe.

Another bold, yet elegant look here. What about these layered valances...do you like?

I adore the colors in this dining room...ooh-la-la!  Oh, and the chairs, the artwork and those long gorgeous draperies too.

I really like the clean, crisp feel of this room and the fully upholstered dining chairs...do you?

My most fave here is the spacing of the artwork over and beside the buffet.  This expands the entire wall by doing this and doesn't just do the "norm" by centering something right over the furniture.  Love it!

I really like the mix of chairs,  the centerpiece (so lovely!) and the lanterns for lighting...but you know me...I'd HAVE to have some window treatments!!  A "must" for me here!

So what is YOUR take on all of these dining rooms?  Any favorites? Which of these ideas do you wish you had in your dining room for your Thanksgiving feast this year?

If you are in need of a dining room "re-do"...we can help. We offer both local design services and long-distance design.  If you'd like help designing your dream room just leave us a comment and we'll get back with you on the details.

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
