Summer Fruits and Room Design...Huh?

I've been "missing in action" for a few days this week but glad to be back today!  I hope each of you are having a delightful week.  A few days ago, I was taking the time to wash and cut up different fruits that I bought for us to have as "healthy" snacks...and you will never guess where that led my mind! Could it be once again to interior design thoughts (you know, when you love what you do it never shuts off, right?). I was standing there cutting it and noticed the vibrant colors of the fruit. I was imagining rooms designed in those exact colors!  Am I crazy or what?  So, needless to say, today's topic was easy...let's look at a few rooms that are in the colors of these fruits!  Oh, and by the way...Happy Summer, now that it's official.

Watermelon (which is my very FAVE fruit...I could eat my weight in it...seriously!

Ooh...I love everything about this room! Check out that "sassy" little ottoman too!

This room is just accented in the watermelon colors...green is a little more lime, but still a shade of green.  The fabrics are what mostly caught my eye to represent watermelon colors.

The walls look like the outside of a watermelon with the tablecloth being the color of the inside...lovely! Hey, check out the "pops" of black on the frames, mirror, and chairs...don't forget that black is always a great idea with most any color way!

I was craving cantaloupe too...yummy!

The sofa here reminds me of the outside of the rind and then the colors of the inside on the pillows...how refreshing!

How do you like this door color and floor together?  I noticed that the artwork here really ties the two colors together nicely...can you tell?

The greens in the background, along with this luscious tablescape color also remind me of the cantaloupe.

What a bright and cheerful room this is.  These colors, used with all the white, bring such a light and airy feeling with it.

And of course...who wouldn't love strawberries?

I love this traditional room design in these colors of the strawberries.  Even the plant reminded me of the tops of the fruit...how 'bout that?

Mix it up Monday!

Happy Monday fellow readers!  I hope you had a fabulous week-end. As for me, we spent countless hours working on the re-design of our breezeway area...designing and laying it out. So, needless to say, I awoke with a yearning for a large cup of bold coffee from my Keurig coffee maker (my "fav" appliance by the way!) to help get me going!  

And just so you'll know...no, this heavenly spot is not mine...we are not this far along yet!  However, it serves as a great inspiration for the project.

Since I am heading out to work on some room re-designs this morning I thought this photo was appropriate for my Monday post. As designers we always have SO many choices available to us as we work on our projects and try to nail down the "best" combo for our clients...and this room actually reflects a "little bit of everything" all put together into one area. Actually it is quite nice and it does indeed all work together.  Take a look...

This California designer, Leslie Sachs, says "I think everybody should live in a glamorous house that makes them feel special".  I sooooo agree! 

She started by selecting the main paint colors first...pink, green and brown...which by the way, the walls ARE pure milky fudge. The ceiling, though hard to see from this, is a light pink. She did however vary the shades to change the mood from room to room. In her words, "Color creates an energy".  Indeed, her rooms do have vibrancy and comfort...as well as glamour and livability...a pure delight for sure!  Don't you just love the color rug she "popped" into this space in the living room? What about the rug pattern with that pattern on the chair?  Such a nice mix of it all.

It's all in...the details...

      

Oh, and just so you'll know...her mantel is pink! Lovely! The accessories pop in more of the blues from that rug...and more green is interjected on the other side of the room.  Remember...a nice rule of thumb with color is to try and repeat the color (or shades of that color) at least three times in the room!

Here is her master bedroom in the varying shades of color that were used in the living area.  Soft shades of green radiate from the bed and the windows.  The lighter shades of brown are in the bedding ensemble she uses and then of course the pops of pinks/corals are displayed in the accessories to the side of the bed. "Simply Irresistible"....wouldn't you say?

And here is a look into her dining room design.  She plays off the rich chocolate brown from the living room with a milkier version of chocolate on the woodwork here. In this area, she continues with the flow of coral pink (on the walls) and then pops in the shades of blue (from the living room's rug) into this space with the accessories. Then, to add a little extra charm and drama....she adds in this black and white rug and a black light fixture...all which then tie into the kitchen (in the background) which has black counter-tops and, I do believe, what look to be black roller shades on the windows.  What a well engineered design plan this is!

Turquoise and Black Inspiration

Remember the hand-made card from last week's post that I said 'inspired' me to take a look at turquoise and black in design...well, here is what I found to share! I just love this color combo. It is both relaxing and stunning! Take a look...

Simply Irresistible!

Now who wouldn't love a soak in this tub? Don't miss the 'fab' color on the ceiling!

How about this 'yummy' fabric...could you add a dash of this somewhere for a touch of these colors? Pillows, recover a chair, an ottoman or bench...or perhaps a new headboard? Scrumptious - no matter how you use it!

This color combo is simply a match made in heaven!  Nothing accents black quite like turquoise does. Have some fun...and if you can only go so far as the 'black and white'...then just add in a heavenly splash with some throw pillows...for a "Simply Irresistible" look!

Now, with all of this lovely turquoise and black...be sure to make it a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

"Wild and Wacky" Wednesday...Multi-Colors!

For those of you that aren't color shy...enjoy the creative use of color today!
