Add a Little Color

...to those white kitchens!

Christmas has passed and I hope each and every one of you had a truly blessed one.  It's always a wonderful time of year, even a midst all the 'hustle and bustle'.  So, since we are now approaching a brand new year I thought we'd share a few tips for adding a little color to white kitchens...a fresh new change for the upcoming year! These are some photos we just couldn't resist sharing with you...

You'll find that this kitchen has soft yellow walls but even if you don't repaint to add color there you can always just add a pop of color to your chairs...whether at the island...or at the table.  Then just be sure to add in a few accessories to repeat the color in that room.  Isn't this pretty?

This is one of MY all-time favorites here...again, the painted chairs and the lighting here repeats the color...all of which I dearly love.  Doesn't it totally change the look and feel of this room?

Another great way would be to paint your island a color that you love and one that will work with your adjoining rooms.  This just helps to warm up this otherwise all-white kitchen.  Here, the repeat of the green is in the tiles over the stove...see?  I like the little 'pops' of red accents in here with this green too!

The only color change in this kitchen is the painted ceiling, but look how much change and ambiance it creates...wow!

Adding in a few upholstered pieces in your fave color is always an option too...and here the green from the fabric is transferred over to the back area of the kitchen with green accessories being displayed all throughout the glass front cabinetry. Really lovely!

This isn't really 'color' added in, however, by adding in a more graphic pattern on the floor in black-and-white it still creates a  cozy and inviting white kitchen...not to mention the fabrics used in this area too that make it all the more COZY.

And as I say...when in doubt...add window treatments and rugs...in color.  This is sure to brighten up and change any white kitchen!

If you feel some of the above changes are to permanent then you call always just add in plenty of lovely accessories and dishes...in color.  This can transform your white kitchen as well.  How easy is that?

Here is another one of my faves (what is it with me and RED lately?)
If you will look around you will see simple changes...the red and white striped dish towel at the sink, a red planter on the counter, a solid red rug, and the seat cushions recovered in a pattern.  That's it...so easy and very affordable for sure.  Changes this entire area!

Whoa!....and THIS my sweet readers...is for those of you that are a little lot more daring and want a big change going into the new year!  Are YOU daring enough for this?  To paint all of those white cabinets AND add in all the accents in that same color (i.e. rug, seat cushions, etc.).

So now you have no excuses!  From simple changes to massive changes...you have hints and tips to transform your very own white kitchen for the new year!  Wouldn't it be nice to make a plan to transform each area, one at a time, over the course of 2014 and then see all of the major change that takes place from now...until the end of next year?  Wow!  I bet we could really tackle alot of those areas that we keep putting off year after year!  So here is the inspiration for the kitchen....now...for my famous advice I even give to myself...

What a Tree!

No...it's not a Christmas tree!  That is for sure.  We visited the Edison & Ford Winter Estates this past weekend and they had the most amazing tree I've ever laid eyes on.  This one is the third largest in the world.

Now don't even ask me what kind of tree it was...because I forgot that!  I was just 'in awe' of this tree's magnificence! Can you believe this is ONE tree...not many, just ONE. The second photo I believe shows the main trunk.  Unbelievable!  Incredible!

I know this tree has nothing at all to do with Christmas, folks. So here's one I think you will like that is a cozy little room in one of the homes on the tour...all ready for Christmas!

Now for the gorgeous dining room...
I just love the way these chairs are decorated...simple but oh so beautiful.

Oh, and the stockings were hung...see them?

Just in case you are wondering how the outside is decorated then here is a photo of the yard at the water (can't see the water since it's dark out!) It was stunning in person...this picture doesn't do it justice.

I'll leave you with another view of the outside.  We had an amazing time here learning more about the lives of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.  If you'd like to find out more you can just click here.

Thanks for tuning in - Ha!

2014 Color of the Year

In case you haven't yet heard...Orchid is the new Pantone Color of the Year for 2014.

Supposedly 'radiant orchid' emanates great joy, love and health!  So maybe we should get a headstart to this new 2014 color of the year...and add in a little of it during this holiday season!

It's beautiful displayed here on this tablescape, isn't it?

If it's too late to add in this color THIS year, then be sure to keep it in mind for your decorating in the new year.  A few little fun pops of this great color may be just the ticket for a fresh new look and feel in your home!

Thanks for stopping by...and

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

A Little Reminder

Just feeling a little 'tug' at my heart today to remind us all that as we go busily about decorating our homes for the holidays...

shopping for those perfect gifts to give those we love...

deciding what to wear to the Christmas parties we attend, etc...

Let's not forget the most important thing...

Yes, HE is the reason we celebrate this season so in all our busyness let's not forget this!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

A Little Christmas Decorating

Happy Saturday sweet readers!  I hope you are doing something you enjoy on this lovely day. I bet many of you, like me, are decorating for the holidays...do you go 'all out'...or keep it simple?

Make Your Decorations Sparkle
I adore trees that are color coordinated with the room it's in..."Simply Irresistible"!  I guess that is the interior designer in me, ya think?  I also like layering accessories-like this wreath over the mantel mirror.

Mix Contemporary and Classic
Ah ha!...another color coordinated tree (and packages!).  Isn't it lovely?  Ok, my eyes cannot resist looking at all the other beautiful designs in this room...draperies with fringe, roman shades, color of the lamps to go with the rug...etc.

Embellish with Greenery
More layering...yes please!  And check out these simple lovely tabletop ideas...quite stunning really.

Try a Unique Color Scheme
Ok, I threw this one in to wake you up - Ha!  No, I just love all things PINK...so that's why.  Aren't the trees in a box oh so cute?  What a great DIY idea!

Keep Christmas Additions Casual
This one is just beautiful to me because of it's traditional style...absolutely beautiful that is. (So now ya know, I lean a little towards the traditional side in my own personal design style along with some unexpected fun pieces mixed in of course.)

Hang a Unique Wreath
Oh so pretty....and what about this basket on the wall.  Do any of you do something similar?  Honestly, I have to say I don't think I'd have thought of this idea.

Choose a Smaller Tree
Let's go ahead and put the Christmas music on please...in this fun colorful room.  I love all things in here - what about you?

Make Everything Glow
Simple elegance here and I love it!

Dress Up Existing Decor
This one has it's own special beauty too...great wreath idea that looks like they maybe surround mirrors and have an ornament hanging in the middle.  I love the table basket with the plant and the Christmas balls.  A vase, basket, or bowl is a great way to add some color and sparkle to your room...just by adding in the ornaments.

So, do YOU go all out like this?  It's beautiful and perfectly decorated (and yes, color coordinated too!).  What about this tree-topper?  Whoa!  Love it.

Well, I'll get back to my own decorating for now.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
