Walls: Color or Neutral?

Just curious...which do YOU prefer...a color on your walls or sticking with a neutral?  Two totally different ways that can create a great look. Let's take a look at some examples of both.

The neutral on these walls sets the tone for a relaxed room to start with.  Then the dominate color is added in with the upholstery and accessory selections in this soft blue palette. A very monochromatic color scheme...which is very calming and lovely.

Here is another example of starting with a neutral backdrop (walls) and then adding in the color with the furnishing and accessories.  Here the color that is added is bright and bold...again, a great look.

Now here is a room done in blues and green...but, with a blue background (wall color), which is reminiscent of the sea (hence, the picture  in this room, I suppose!). Which do YOU prefer...neutral walls or the blue?

Now for green walls...and blue upholstery...again, what a nice look! It is a completely different feel than the first two since the walls are part of the color scheme.

There isn't a "right and wrong" really, just a matter of preference.  Color on the walls is just a little more daring and you must be sure you can live with this much color...me?  I say, bring it on...I can indeed live with color! So, which do YOU prefer...color or neutral walls? We'd love for you to share your thoughts on the subject!

Now...be sure to have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

  1. I'm not sure I should answer this one right now! HAHAHAHA! I have decided I love both neutrals and colors. That first room with the soft blue and taupe -- gorgeous!

  2. You are like me...I love BOTH and yes, that first one is beautiful. It's so soft and serene! But, I love the punch of color too. What do we do, right?
