Design-A-Room (Day #4)

Hello...welcome back to our Day #4 about building our room design. We've been slammed with work for clients (a good thing though!) so we've missed a few days...when that happens, just know we are working on "real" design plans and projects (we do alot of full-service design) and we'll be back asap.  With that in mind, let's get started...

We have decided that in order to ground the room a little more we are in need of a large piece of furniture...to add some balance to the overall design ... and ... some storage and bookcase areas.  So, we've come up with this...

Miranda Bookcase with Hutch

A lovely bookcase with some storage behind the doors (available here).  This will be a great addition to the room as we can accessorize the shelves and pop some color in there as well...sounds like a plan, right?

Now, we will definitely need some more seating in this room...and I want this room to be bright and bold...so with that in mind...take a look...
Hickory Chair Paris Club Chair

How about using a pair of these Hickory Chair Paris Club Chairs in this fabulous, bright and bold orange!  Hickory Chair has a great website that allows you to customize pieces of furniture with most any fabric and you can see how it will look finished.  That's what we did...picked our chair style then selected our fabric...and voila! Can you see these in our room along with that new fabric we used on the sofa pillows?  I say...yes, yes, yes!  Let's do it!

This is how our room now looks on Day #4...what do YOU think?

Build-A-Room #1

With it being Friday and also Mother's Day weekend it was all I could do to stop myself from presenting this room with a few accessories (you know, the pretty things that truly "make" the room!)...but I did...so no surprises yet.  Let's finish the other aspects first and then we'll move on to that...so stay tuned!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day ... and...

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful moms out there!!

Children are a blessing
and a gift from the Lord.

Design-A-Room (Day#3)

Ok, I must admit...there is a weird thing happening to our posts in this series!  Once a post is published and we work on the next post (or even ideas for several ahead)...the design board gets updated on the previously posted blog...and WE aren't posting it!  Yikes...this is crazy! Anyone out there had this happen or better yet, know HOW this happens?  If you do, please let us know.  This is our newest post, but be warned...it may update the previous two days to "this" design board at the end!

So, on the last post you were supposed to just have the sofa, pillows, end tables, and lamps...but, you got way more than that, right?  Well, today (Day 3) you were going to get the ottoman...(a West Elm Walton ottoman)
West Elm Walton Ottoman, Performance Velvet, Lagoon

I loved the idea of staying with the peacock blue family...just darker for this piece...what do you think...like?  The idea of using a large ottoman for the coffee table is really nice because it serves two purposes (you know, even a "comfy" place to prop your feet) and also because it actually "softens" the room even more.

Now, for the rug reveal (that you've already laid eyes on mistakenly!)...here it is...(Blue Wilshire Rug by Shopten25)
Blue Wilshire Rug

Again, we are keeping lots going on in the SAME color family so as not to cause "the eye" to jump all around our room.  Our other color will come in "pops" as we build our room!  Now, let's take a look at where we should be on Day #3...

96839_286x200

Just forget, for now, all the other items that "mystically" appeared on the other post...assuming yours DID do this too...this is all we have in the room as of today.  Let's see...what do you think we should add next?  What items would YOU be most ready to add to your room at this point?  Be sure to come back by to see what new creations we find for this room design.

Be sure to make it a "Simply Irresistible" Monday!

Kitchen Renovation

I've been meaning to share a few "Before and After" pictures with you of a client's kitchen that was in desperate need of a make-over.  She hired us for the job and from that moment on...the transformation had begun.  It's always such a blessing to not only get a total "re-do" to work on, but to also get really great clients too! They were great to work with and we all enjoyed the process.

Here are a few "Before" photos...

This was a lovely country farm house built, if I remember correctly, in the very early 1900's.  Can you tell they were really ready for a kitchen make-over?  My husband, of our cabinet division, and also a very experienced custom cabinetry guy himself, worked with our design team and the clients...it was truly a "team" effort in order for us to make this client's dreams and wishes become reality and more importantly...be the look SHE wanted!

Here's what we came up with...the "After" pics...

I'll mention here that the countertops we selected for this project were made from concrete...that's right...concrete.  It was an amazing process, in which we also determined the exact finish, texture and color outcome that we wanted (well, the client made the final choice with us!).  If you want to find out more about this type of countertop then go to Granicrete to learn more.

For her walls we took down the dated wallpaper and added that pop of gold...Sherwin Williams Anjou Pear.

And the ceiling, remember that's an important factor too in the overall room ambiance...is painted in Jersey Cream (also by Sherwin Williams), which is two shades lighter than the wall color...

This picture shows more detailing of the tile design...and what do you think about this navy grout?  A feature she just fell in love with!  Oh, btw....she LOVES navy!!

She wanted plenty of glass display cabinets and shelves to showcase some of her select collectibles...which we designed above her cabinets and even incorporated some of her main cabinets this way to showcase her dishes.

Of course the kitchen wouldn't be complete without the new farm sink...a MUST in this farm house. (Sorry for the darkness of this one!)

More display cabinetry and a custom microwave niche...pull-out spice racks, etc...everything she wanted in her new kitchen.

Here's a little clearer view of the feet on these custom cabinets.

We customized a farm table, also with the concrete countertop (mentioned above with link) on it,  to use for an island AND a kitchen table.  Going to add some stools here too!

I wish I had a close-up of this gorgeous medallion to show you!

What a fun project!  My design team and myself spent most of our time designing the lovely red, gold and blue tile designs to use in here.  It turned out great, of course with the excellent workmanship of our tile expert that installed it according to plan.  Each detailed cut of our design was carried out to "the tee" especially behind the stove.  What do ya think? I think I'll give "hubby" an extra applause too here...great job on the cabinets!!

Well, that's it for now.  I wish I had professional photos to show you now, but I don't.  Hope you could at least tell from these how our total kitchen renovation made this couple's dreams go from vague ideas and magazine clippings (yes, they had these too!)...to a beautiful reality that they will enjoy for many years to come.

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to...
Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

From Fashion to Room Design

Happy Friday!  The end to another week already...hope your's has been a good one!

As most of you know, pastels are "in" for Spring this year.  How do YOU handle that...in fashion?  Or perhaps, in your room design.  Let's see...what about a little combo of mint green and soft pink?  This is right up my alley!

Even if pastels aren't for you, remember that you can always add in a little "pop" of these colors...whether it be in your accessories (shoes, handbag or even in room accessories that is!)...or maybe you'll just leave it to this...

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Essie Pop Art Pink

Fingers and toes...with some of Essie's popular colors.

Or perhaps sport one of these colors like this...

What do you think...how could YOU use this lovely color combo of...mint green and soft pink?  Do tell.

Oh, and by the way...
Have a "Simply Irresistible" Weekend!

Simple Design Ideas

With our renovations here still underway I wanted to pop in and share some great designer picks with you today.  Sound fun? Let's put together a new look with some of these fine products...shall we?

Bungalow 5 Claire Wall Mirror

Bungalow 5 Cordova Lamp

Bungalow 5 Cordova Lamp

Perhaps you'd prefer a little more "pop" of color with that mirror instead...either way...both would be a great look!

Dash and Albert Yacht Stripe Ocean Woven Cotton Rug
Dash and Albert Yacht Stripe Rug

Now let's not forget those floors...let's "soften" the area by adding in this Dash and Albert rug...which works with either lamp choice.

Ok, now we need a table, right?  For this mirror to hang over, these lamps (2 of them btw!) at each end, and this rug on the floor in front of....this table, perhaps...

Somerset Bay Bulls Bay Console SB191

Yea...I like this one...how about YOU?  Can you catch the "vision" yet?  Last, but not least...we need accessories for in between the two lamps...hum, let's see what we found!

NDI

Something like this will work...placed right in between the lamps.

There, we have it.  Maybe there is a foyer that has been long awaiting a little update.... it's a great way to make a grand entrance into your home.  Or perhaps you've got a bedroom dresser that neeps a "facelift"...this same idea would work there too. Take whatever STYLE you like...and find similar pieces to get YOUR  new look.

Just be sure to let us see your 'Before and After' pics...Ok?  Have fun and be creative...make it YOU!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Office Inspiration

Hello, dear readers!  I hope each of you had a blessed Easter. Now it's official...my friends and family are saying I must indeed truly be "MIA".  Yikes, it has been a crazy busy last couple of weeks.  Not only with design projects, but with these here...home renovations of our own! I know it will be worth it, once it's over with...but the "going through" all this madness is hard.  So, today I am in the office...working like a mad woman (ha!), but wanted to say hello.

(Forgot source of this photo, so if you know let me know!)

And I truly do wish THIS was my newly renovated office to work in today!  Just loving this pink and green...what inspiration for an office!

Hope your day is..."Simply Irresistible"!

New Issue of Adore

Happy Sunday!  As for my easy weekend reading this is a new release I'll definitely need to get my hands on...know why?  Come on now, your first two guesses don't even count!  You should KNOW why if you've been following for long...

I "adore" (no pun intended!) these PINK chairs...not only the color, my fave, but this style.  We recently installed a client project using this style too.  "Simply Irresistible"...and I haven't even seen the inside of it yet!

Hope your Sunday has been a relaxing one!

Yellow...Sunshine in Your Room

If yesterday's post didn't set the tone for Spring, then I am sure this will...

Doesn't this room reflect Spring all the way around...I love these chairs around the skirted table.  They are covered in a bright yellow vinyl (now "that's" easy cleaning, right!) with the backs done in a lovely, cheerful, floral linen fabric.  Shades of yellow surround the area...drapes, flooring, and accessories.

Green is a great color to be paired with yellow.  It sort of ushers in Spring as well...wouldn't you agree?  What a great way to pop another color accent - just paint the inside of a china cabinet and you're sure to get a FAB look from it!

Adding a rug in a bright spring color is another way to bring in some instant sunshine to your room...along with those pillows that I mentioned yesterday. Isn't this lovely?

And for a little more sunshine...how about this room?  This lovely rug grounds the entire area and adds a little fun to an otherwise traditional room.  I love the silk draperies...and the fringe!

What's not to love about my  this office (got you, didn't I?) .  Yellow adorns the walls (much like yellow I am in process of adding in my home - yea, really this time!) bringing in that feel of spring and sunshine. Oh, and this gorgeous yellow and gray fabric...and this painted ceiling...oh my, I could settle right in this office...how about YOU?

Here is a simple and easy way that YOU can add in that pop of sunshine!  Oh, and these garden stools...well, I'm even already on the hunt for these...in red (for a client). They are very popular right now and a great way to add not only extra color, but extra seating or side tables.  Fun, aren't they?

If you want to see more springtime sunshine and lots more incredible interior design then head over to Traditional Home.  Kudos to all of these designs as they are indeed "Simply Irresistible".

Hope your day is filled with SUNSHINE!

Happy Spring!

With Spring officially here, I thought I'd share a few rooms that seem to usher in the season...

These luscious pillows in a soft pink certainly do usher in the season...don't ya think?  Something as simple as changing out your pillows can make a huge difference.  Try it!

These colors are bright, bold and beautiful indeed, but how about what fresh flowers will do to a room? (see ottoman)

shazalynn
Flowers add not only freshness...but a touch of color too!  Love this fresh crisp bathroom in white...ooh-la-la!

mirrored houzz
Another lovely white bathroom...and look...more flowers in this one too! Do YOU have flowers in YOUR bathroom?  I do!

Add colorful panels for your artwork...recover (or slip-cover) a chair...and pop in some spring color in your accessories (bookcase please!).

And last but not least...it's time to start enjoying those outdoor meals...are you ready?  I certainly am!  Welcome Spring!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" SPRING Day!
