To Bust or Not to Bust?

...That is the question!  These busts can make for great accessories in your room.  They are statues of a person's head, usually, and they remind me of historical design, traditional style, eclectic style...and yet can even be incorporated into modern designs.  Here are a few "bust" inspirations for you...

One is used here in this great room design with sleek, clean lines and modern graphic patterns...but it looks really great!  It almost looks like the "perfect" filler accessory for this spot and works in well with all the white.

Here is a lovely pair of busts and they are mixed in with other silver accessories.  I think it's just the right touch for this spot too...don't you agree?

Here it is used with a more vibrant color - my fave - PINK!  I simply love how it pops even the trim work in the white.  "Simply Irresistible"...in my book anyway!

These have become so popular that Pottery Barn even added them in their accessory selection.  How about this use of one at your bedside...to put your necklaces on.  Like it...or not?

This one here looks to maybe be on a pedestal behind the sofa (but could be put on a sofa table for same effect).  I love how it is incorporated into the overall window design with these draperies and it displaying itself right smack dab in the middle.

For that little more modern or eclectic look...here it is again!  These little (or big) statues can be used just anywhere.

I was intrigued by the finish on this one...and the fact that it is used in a bathroom.  Sometimes this spot, the back of a commode, is hard to accessorize just right, but I think this is totally the right spot for this bust.  It ties into this space so nicely (especially with those window treatments and black cabinets).  To give it the right height it is even just sitting atop a planter...how's that for creative!

So, again my question...to bust or not to bust?  What do you think?  Have you added one of these simple accessories in your home?  Would you now that you've been inspired with these photos?  Do tell, please...we'd love to know what you really think.

Have yourself a blessed and "Simply Irresistible" weekend!

Simply Irresistible Designs for your Pets

Being the animal lover that I am...I am always intrigued by the many designs that are available for our precious pets.  They too are a part of our family and maybe should be considered in our plans for our room designs.  Here are a few ways to do just that!

Now, what little furry creature wouldn't love this spot for the day or perhaps the entire evening?
(Available here)

If you really want to pamper that special little dog or cat then you must invest in this canopy bed...what a life of luxury for them and sure to make them feel safe and secure!
(Available here)

What do you think of this ghost bed as I call it...it's really a part of the invisible collection by Petbitat.  I love this idea for that modern spin on design. Look, even pet dishes to match!  This is a great choice when you want that special spot for your pet but maybe don't want it to be so obvious in the room.
(Available here)

Decorative Dog Bed
A wicker bed is also a great choice since it goes well with many room styles.  This one here is also easily cleaned with soap and water as it won't absorb moisture of any kind.  Ah, I just love it!
(Available here)

Mahogany Sleigh Pet Bed
For a more traditional flair how about this sleigh bed for your special pet?  I love the custom bedding for this too and I'm sure it's available in many other styles as well...even a bolster pillow!  How stylish is that!  What more could our little best friends want?
(Available here)

And I, of course, couldn't leave out this cute choice.  Oh-la-la!  How special my own poodle would feel in this...except, she's a bit of a tom-boy, so I may have to reconsider! Isn't it adorable?
(Available here)

How about a stylish Victorian iron bed to work in with your own decor...isn't this one a great look too?  I think so far this is MY favorite!
(Available here)

Last, but not least, here we have a unique vintage suitcase designed into a little safe-haven for your pets. Now this is creative, wouldn't you say and what a conversation piece this would be in your home! Is this a style that you could live with?
(Available here)

I admit...I could go on forever, but I won't.  I love to pamper my little furry friends (and I have four of them!) so much that I even get teased about it many times.  They are definitely a special part of my family!  As for you other animal lovers out there...which is your favorite style?  Do you have one in your home already?  Would you consider making this change for your furry friend?  I'd love to know!

Thanks so much for visiting our blog today and be sure to...

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Friday Featured Design

Today's featured design is straight from Atlanta based designer, Suzanne Kasler, who has made quite an impact in the design world. I just adore her signature style of casual elegance.  I was recently intrigued by work she has done with bookcases.  You know me...always adding "softness" to hard surfaces, but look at this work of art by Suzanne.

There is no softness found in this bookcase, yet I love the way she placed the books...how unique! OK, I admit, I would have a hard time walking away without placing at least a little "softening" in, but that's just my opinion.  Her work is incredible to say the least!

Here is another one that caught my eye.  I loved the way the books in pink were displayed, almost like artwork.  Then notice the black vases that pull the black in from the accent on those gorgeous draperies...ooh-la-la...and you know I love this pink and black together!  Like I said, I just adore this casual yet elegant style of hers...do you?

Now, how about YOUR bookcases?  Are they running over with "stuff" and in need of being styled?  If so, hopefully these gave you a little inspiration that will help.  Bookcases are a great way to not only display your books, but also your beautiful collectibles.

Thanks for stopping by and...

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Weekend!

Room inspired by Rug

I know I am on a brown and turquoise kick...and believe it or not brown does not exist in my own color palette!  However, when paired with the right colors it can be beautiful...no matter what style it is. I was greatly inspired by an HGTV Flooring room set that was designed for Shaw Rugs.  I saw it over at Remodelaholic (great sight to check out) and since it was in our colors we've talked about I thought I'd share it with you today.

I have used this rug before, maybe even in same color way.  It's a line that can give you a gorgeous look for an affordable price.  Don't you just love all the colors in it.  Well, that is what inspired this entire room design.  The colors were selected from the Ikat Panel Rug...brown, nuetrals, turquoise and red.  They also added many textures through-out the room such as wicker, natural wood (see crates and carved horse), glass, wrought iron etc.  This gives it such an eclectic feel and makes it seem as though it evolved over time with a collection of specially selected items. I even love the greenery that was added in the window sill which "softens" the windows even more.  The details of this room are "Simply Irresistible"...don't you agree?

A closer look of these details...and that "wow" chandelier which was painted red! It really pops now! The throw over the chair and the table accessory (right side of photo) brings in even more of this accent color....and you've gotta love that creative table idea!!

Can you see even the suitcases stacked in the left corner?...such a creative way to add filler to an area!  And check out that typography fabric...scrumptious choice for this room.  I love how they chose to put in on the ottoman and the pillows instead of the typical of just putting it on the chairs.  This creates a totally different look and feel in the room.  Wouldn't you agree?

I am admiring this wall collage that was created from all sorts of different items...mirrors, framed seashells, art, letters, and even a canvas painting. Look at the little "pops" of red spread around too. (oh, there's even a better view of the suitcases in this photo!)

More typography art on a stand...adds such a fun, care-free feel to this room design!

Here is yet another area of interest in front of the window...again, lots of details.  How could one not be INSPIRED by seeing all of these wonderful creative ideas?

Final shot, I promise...but I just had to be sure you saw most of it.  You can check out the link to this sight (above) if you want to see even more.  Hats off to this design team!  And would you believe it was created in a DAY!  It certainly doesn't "feel" that way, does it?  What things did you like most about this room design?  We'd love to know!

Have yourself a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Brown and Turquoise Inspiration

I was planning a different post for today, however, when I saw this inspiration this morning I changed course a bit. I hope that is OK!  My wonderful neighbor and friend, whose scrapbook work I often mention here and follow-up with room design from it, has once again caught my eye with her amazing work.  It's not just her beautiful designs, but also her lovely choice of colors and patterns.  Here is today's inspiration from her...

When I saw this I immediately thought of all the ways this card design could be incorporated into a room.  Either brown or light turquoise walls, an area rug like that brown and ivory polka-dot paper strip, drapery panels in the turquoise and ivory plaid (shown on her scalloped circle), lots of pillows in the other patterns on a brown or neutral sofa, and two chairs in that gorgeous stripe...oooh, I could so see it in my mind...thus the reason for my post today...great job Tammy!  Love it!

So, here are some rooms I found similar to her color scheme.  I have always thought that any shade of turquoise blue really does wonders with brown tones.  Take a look and see what you think...
In this one I love that this rug grounds the entire color scheme and I adore the pattern in it. Here are our stripe chairs I mentioned along with draperies and pillows in the other fabrics. With the dark brown walls and blue sofa (instead of brown) it really pops even the brown-tones in the tables...don't you think?  What's not to love about this room?

Another, but basic, brown room brought to life with turquoise!

Here the brown is toned down a bit but adding the turquoise brings life into the room...wouldn't you agree?

And this lovely design, by famous Miles Redd, is sophisticated and elegant, yet fun-loving too.  I think this fun rug is what adds in a bit of the fun flair. I vote this design as "Simply Irresistible"...how about you?

A rustic look here with browns and neutrals, but that ever so wonderful POP of color with the throw, the chandelier base and these awesome turquoise shutters.

So if you'd like to brighten up the browns in your home...why not consider adding in some color in ways such as these shown here today.  I believe you will surely love the results as it can turn any room from "drab" to "fab"... give it a try!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Easy DIY Artwork

I know there aren't a lot of interior designers out here that actually offer their clients DIY ideas, but I sometimes like to do this if I know my client is truly a DIY'er and would welcome some "money-saving" tips! Here are a few I thought I'd share with you because they are soooo simple and would really make a striking difference in your room.

How about selecting some of your favorite fabric and then mounting it to a canvas frame...how easy is that? This DIY artwork will add beauty to those otherwise plain walls by adding that "pop" of color and pattern. You can do one large frame or use multiple frames to form a collage if you prefer.  Go here for basic instructions on how to carry out this great idea for your room!  (By they way, I have had this photo for awhile planning to share this idea with you, but I forgot - duh! - where I found it.  If you know, please let me know so I can give credit to the photo owner - Thanks!)

Another great photo of this idea!

You know those wonderful calendar pages where each month represents a beautiful scene of some sort?  Well, turn those pages into framed artwork instead of throwing the outdated calendar away.  How simple is that?  Or...find a few "must-have" colorful posters that would fit ready-made frames (to help keep the cost more reasonable!).  Here is an example...isn't this bird print great? And, of course, this one is so easy that instructions are not needed.

Whether it's new frames or vintage frames (with a little spray paint perhaps) find ones you like.  Then you can add either fabrics or wallpaper to create gorgeous artwork for most any room in your home.  Isn't this collage "Simply Irresistible" in this nursery? It was made from the fabrics that were used through-out the room.

I hope this gave you a little creative inspiration on this Monday morning.  Why not decide what "look" you desire in your room, find the items you'll need...and have a little "DIY moment" this upcoming week-end.  The transformation will not only be beautiful, but quite "unique" to your personality.  Try it...and please, by all means, let us know what you come up with.  We'd love to see, and even post your DIY creation!

Have a "Simply Irresistible" Day!

Funky Friday Find

How about a little "funky" style for your great room...really funky! I ran across this earlier in the week and just had to share it with you today.

Cast Iron Bathtub Couch
What DO you think of this bathtub couch?  They are made from vintage tubs, from late 1800's to early 1900's.  Each one is unique as they are custom made to order and supposedly quite comfortable.  How about putting one of these in your room...huh?  Visit here if you like that idea. What will they think of next?

Wishing you a blessed weekend!

A Punch of Color

Did you know that sometimes a color scheme can be fairly simple to decide on? It can be, especially if you aren't looking for a lot of color in your room.  Believe it or not, even just the slightest punch of color can set the tone in your home.  Take a look at a few...

This punch of yellow in the artwork and punch of green on the island (oh, and don't you just love this table used for an island!) is just what this homeowner needed in this white kitchen.

I know this bed and table have color, but I wanted to show you this room just to show how you can have only a punch of color in a simple piece of art (even if furniture is neutral) and it can just "make" the room.  Of course, it always helps to make more of an impact with color when you add touches of color in some accessories...such as these pillows, however, in keeping it very simple...you don't even have to do that!

The same effect can be achieved from a punch of color with a gorgeous colorful fabric as shown on these chairs.  One simple blue accessory was added to the table in blue, but that's all...isn't it beautiful?  So simple, yet "Simply Irresistible"!

Even in the smallest of areas this effect can make a difference.  Just a punch of color here and there around the room such as we have arranged on this table-top here.

Yet another example of how one punch works...look at this pair of chairs.  See, it works!  Also added was a little of this color into the artwork over the sofa.

Now...you tell me where the punch of color is! What spots can you find around your home to add a simple punch of color?  I'd love to know.

Another ever-so-simple way!

How's this one for extra simple?

I like this one too with the punch of color mostly in the pillows around the room, but also a bit of a punch in the artwork and flowers. It's really quite lovely...yet color in here was such a simple thing to add.

So, if you have been hesitating about trying to decide on a color-scheme for your room(s), don't be overwhelmed.  Keep it simple to begin with and know that you can always add more color into the room with a few of these easy ideas.  Color added this way is a lot less terrifying than adding it with painted walls or painted furniture. Wouldn't you agree?

Please let us know if you have an area that you decide to move forward with to make a change and add that much needed punch of color! We'd love to hear your ideas and how it impacted YOUR rooms!

Keep in mind though, we can help establish your color-scheme if you still need/want help with it...or we can custom design your entire room plan for you to easily carry it out within your own time frame and budget.  Just send us an email to let us know you are interested and we'll contact you with more details.

So, for now...Go make it a "Simply Irresistible" Day!
(Just added a little punch of color above to see if you were paying attention!)
